A man suspected to be a suicide bomber has been
set ablaze by an angry mob in Gombe State.
The man was said to have arrived the Gombe Line
Motor Park at about 1pm today, November 18, with
a sack which he dropped after refusing to be
searched by the personnel at the gate.
He then supposedly made an attempt to run away
from the scene but was accosted by the mob.
Another report has it that he was about to blow
himself up when he was spotted. The crowd then threw tyres and poured petrol on him before setting him ablaze.
A witness told The Cable:
“One guy entered with a bomb and as he was trying to connect the bomb, people saw him and got hold of him.”
"The police came to arrest him and they were going to
take him to the station but the people insisted that they were going to kill him so they gathered tyres and burnt him alive,” the witness added.
The park was also the scene of an October 31 bombing which reportedly claimed 30 lives and left many people injured. Police officers have reportedly taken the bomb away from the scene after one of the youths in the area
took it out of the park and onto the main road.
